Virginia Baseball

Virginia
NCAA Division 1
ACC
The University of Virgina baseball team competes within the Atlantic Coast Conference, or commonly referred to as the ACC, and has had a great deal of recent success. Playing their first game in 1889, Virgina struggled quite a bit in their first 100 years as a baseball program. That started to shift under the leadership of Brian O’Connor in 2004. Some of the Virginia Cavaliers recent accolades include five College World Series appearances from 2009 – 2021, securing a National Championship in their 2015 season. The program has produced several notable MLB players, including Ryan Zimmerman, Sean Doolittle, and Chris Taylor, just to name a few. The University of Virginia has a pretty low acceptance rate at 24%, requiring SAT scores in the high 600’s for both the verbal and math sections. The total enrollment currently sits at 29,000 and the average student can expect to pay $17,500 a year after grant and scholarship aid.
